KROQ's Almost Acoustic Lineup Is Out

KROQ'S ALMOST ACOUSTIC CHRISTMAS LINEUP RELEASED
Maaan, we're good. When we released our almost-sure prediction for the 22nd Annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas lineup last week, we said Night One on Dec. 10 would likely include Jane's Addiction, Bush, Rise Against, Blink-182, Social Distortion, Pennywise and A Day to Remember. The lineup was officially announced today, and we were close. Very close. (The dates, though, were spot on.) It's actually Blink-182, Bush, Chevelle, Incubus, New Found Glory, Social Distortion, 311 and our hometown favorites, Young the Giant. Proceeds from Night One of the concert, which went on sale Nov. 16, will benefit Para Los Niños, a nonprofit family-service agency that helps at-risk children. JACK GRISHAM BUSY WRITING SECOND BOOK
TSOL
front man and Weekly coverboy Jack Grisham is following up his first novel, An American Demon, with a work of fiction that he won't tell us the title of (“because it's cool, and I don't want people to steal it”) or describe the plot of (same reason). But he did raise more than $7,000 via a Kickstarter campaign so he can finish the book. “I can tell you the kids live in a fictional 1960s Northern California town. I can tell you there are as many cemeteries in the story as there are boys, and I can tell you it's an American Gothic coming-of-age tale—although the children are much more mature than I'll ever be,” he says. WIN STUFF
One of our favorite contemporary-music-video directors, OC native Chris Marrs Piliero, is giving away a ton of ultra-cool memorabilia from videos he directed. The contest is open on his site until Nov. 19, and mementos include items from the sets of videos of Ke$ha, The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, Britney Spears, Yellowcard, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, The Ready Set and A Day to Remember. “I've kept items from all of my music videos as cool mementos from each one,” Piliero says. “I woulda loved to own something from one of the videos I grew up watching, so I thought it'd be rad if I gave that chance to you as a way of saying, 'Thanks for digging the videos. . . . You're swell.'” Follow @marrsattacks on Twitter, then go to his site marrsattacks.com to find out how to enter to win items from each video. From a Nov. 14 post.
