Kornell Randen King Held in Presumed Murder of Man by Beating in Anaheim

A 27-year-old man is being held for what is presumed to be the beating death of another man near the suspect's Anaheim apartment.

Kornell Randen King, who lives in an apartment complex in the 2100 block of West Crescent Avenue, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail after being booked on a murder charge at the Anaheim Police Department Temporary Detention Facility, according to Lt. Bob Dunn, the department spokesman.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, three men contacted Anaheim Fire & Rescue about a man needing assistance in a water overflow area near the apartments, which are between Crescent and the southbound I-5 freeway.

Paramedics on the scene contacted police when they arrived to discover a man with “significant injuries to his upper body and no signs of life,” said Dunn, who added the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers learned the dead man may have been in a physical fight about an hour before his body was discovered, and the early investigation led police to King's apartment, where he was contacted and later arrested, Dunn said.
