Man, what a difference two years can make. In April 2011, Los Angeles Lakers superstar and Newport Coast resident Kobe Bryant made national headlines for calling an NBA referee a “fucking faggot,” earning widespread condemnation and a half-hearted apology from the basketball player. But this morning, Bryant not only tweeted a message in support of NBA player Jason Collins (who just became the first athlete in the major professional sports leagues to come out while still active in an article for Sports Illustrated), but also urged his fans to do the same.
