William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew has been given plenty of modern updates, maybe you remember the most famous one starring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger in 10 Things We Hate About You (miss you, Heath). But before that high school comedy existed there was the Broadway smash Kiss Me Kate. Kiss Me Kate features the love triangles and predicaments from the source material set in the Golden Age of Hollywood, where the characters fumble to leave their backstage drama from affecting the drama in their on-stage performances, meanwhile evading a fearsome gangster's mob. Vanguard University brings back this retro classic, reviving the timeless Cole Porter score that made it so memorable in its heyday.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 10. Continues through April 26, 2015
