Joseph Mahon's Burger Parlor, Avila's El Ranchito Open

Burger Parlor, the evening permanent pop-up restaurant opened by former Bastide chef Joseph Mahon, opened quietly at Rialto in downtown Fullerton recently. Currently open only Wednesday through Sunday, the chef expects to be open daily in the near future. The menu is simple: burgers, fries, a few salads, desserts, and an array of Belgian and Belgian-style beers.

Storied chefs opening downscale burger joints? Sounds like it's time for a burger battle between the Burger Parlor and Peter's Gourmade Grill.

Also open is the latest outpost of Avila's El Ranchito, which took over PJ's Abbey in downtown Orange with only a week or so of closure. Like all Avila's restaurants, it features Cal-Mex cuisine, with plenty of burritos and beans-and-rice plates. The website has not yet been updated with the new location.
