This sounds like the opening to a Six Feet Under episode: Jose Velazquez Castillo was mowing the back lawn of his Anaheim home Saturday afternoon when he fell backward into his swimming pool and apparently drowned.
The 41-year-old resident of the home in the 800 block of South Stone Circle could not swim, according to family members.

Another resident of the home pulled Velazquez Castillo out of the
pool after the 1:20 p.m. incident, and paramedics tried to resuscitate
him. But he was later pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Police are investigating the incident as a tragic accident. An autopsy will determine cause of death.
