John Anthony Hatherley, Dana Point Doctor, Has License Suspended by California Medical Board For Third Time

In 2007, the Orange County Register published a bruising exposé of Dr. John Anthony Hatherley, a Huntington Beach doctor who had used his position as an emergency room doctor to feed his Vicodin addiction. Reporter Brian Joseph used him as a poster child to attack the Medical Board of California diversion program, which treated doctors with addiction problems with kid gloves.

At the time of the article, Hatherley was on five-year probation by the board and issued specific rules he had to follow in order to keep his medical license. This week, the board suspended his license.

According to the suspension order issued by the board, Hatherley violated a provision that stated he “shall make all records available for immediate inspection and copying on the premises by [a] monitor at all times during business hours and shall retain the records for the entire term of probation.”

The Medical Board of California records show this is the third time Hatherley has had his license suspended by the organization. He currently runs Aesthetic Body Solutions in Dana Point.
