Before the spat got any uglier, a witness tried to break up the fight.

He later told police the driver of the car pulled out an unknown object and stabbed Vanhorn with it.

Vanhorn collapsed right there.

When Garden Grove paramedics arrived, Vanhorn was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses got a good look at the car as the stabber drove off. Garden Grove detectives learned the vehicle was registered to a man with a former address in Anaheim. Police there were given the car information and a witness description of the man who stabbed Vanhorn.

Within hours, an Anaheim detective, with the help of an air unit, pulled over a car matching that description and took the man behind the wheel into custody without incident.

He was identified as Gilberto Luciano Flores, 45, of Anaheim.

Flores will be arraigned on murder charges Wednesday in Westminster's West Justice Center.
