The media has portrayed alleged Arizona rampage shooter Jared Loughner as holding such politically jumbled views–his top three grievances center on government mind control, returning
to the Gold Standard and political correctness–that it is
impossible to find any Left or Right direction in him.
But a military veteran who posts political humor from a liberal bent has discovered a televised conversation between conservatives espousing similar views. Who are today's mystery guests? None other than anti-P.C., return-to-gold pusher Glenn Beck and his congressional doppelgänger, Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-Fairview Hospital).

After reading this transcript of the Glenn Beck show below, I want the media to tell me that Glenn Beck and Dana Rohrabacher are only expressing a jumble of political beliefs with no Left or Right direction to it. My God, man, this entire interview is about an extreme right-wing-conspiracy screed against government mind control by two of the craziest right-wing loons in the world.
Beck and Rohrabacher hear-heared each other on House Resolution 3247, a bill proposed by Representative Brian Baird (D-Washington) that would direct the Department of Energy (DoE) to research the social and behavioral factors that influence energy consumption and the adoption of new utility rates, as well as to apply that research to the development and use of energy technologies. Sounds fair enough. Hell, you'd think the DoE would be doing this already.
Well, after being approved in committee on a partisan vote (Dems for, Repubs against), the bill at last word remained stuck back in the House science committee for rewrites. That panel, of course, includes Rohrabacher as a member, and his chat with Beck reveals why it may never leave there–especially with the GOP having taken control of the lower house.
As the FOX transcript shows, Beck links the research to George Orwell's 1984, but instead of turning us all into history rewriters like Winston Smith, it will force us into hybrid cars.
BECK: They're going to study us and find ways to essentially trick us into driving crappy hybrids, and I bet that's just the beginning. As Time magazine summarized on April 2: “The president–President [Barack] Obama is still relying on behavioral science. But now, his administration is using it to try to transform the country”–they didn't say this like it was a bad thing, either –“because when you know what makes people tick, it's a lot easier to help them change.”
Rohrabacher claims liberals will use the research to justify their desired, anti-American social engineering. Here, he picks up on Beck's contention that the energy research will produce “propaganda.”
ROHRABACHER: Well, that is exactly what they intend, and actually, I think the word was used in the debate. They believe that people just aren't doing the right things because they're not making choices that these liberal leftists want them to make, and thus, there must be something wrong with them.
BECK: Sure.
ROHRABACHER: Let's psychoanalyze them.
BECK: They're insane.
