Japanese Gourmet Fair Starts Tomorrow At Mitsuwa Costa Mesa; Lasts Till Sunday

**CORRECTION** The special ramen vendor will only be at the Torrance location. Apologies for the error!

**ORIGINAL POST**

Ah, Mitsuwa. Where would we be without your occasional food fairs. This week sees one of the bigger ones of the year. It's plainly called “Japanese Gourmet Fair” but for all intents and purposes, it's just an excuse to pull out the takoyaki booth they have in storage. I saw them already getting it ready this past weekend.

Yes, takoyaki, those scalding octopus-filled balls of vague pancakeness, will be offered, but as is described in the Engrish at Mitsuwa's own website, there will also be special vendors in attendance. This year, there will be a ramen vendor who comes from the city of Kesennuma, which was devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. He will be serving his “Ushio ramen”, which is reportedly made with, among other things, “seafood, water, and sake”.

See you there, and for God's sake, carpool! Parking will suck less if you do.
