This happened in the area of Townsend and Monte Vista around 11:55 p.m., when the shooting prompted the driver to pull into a gas station, where police were called.

Someone commented on another blog that Jimenez “was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Santa Ana Police had dribbled out few details other than that, although this gives a clue the shooting may be gang related: The agency noted in its advisory about the incident that police offer monetary rewards for information leading to the arrest of gang homicide or felony gang assault suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call 714.245.8390.

Because such crimes can lead to retribution against witnesses, Santa Ana homicide detectives also note that anonymous tips may be left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1.855.TIP.OCCS.
