Corr had a pre-trial hearing scheduled today for allegedly being the carjacker who stole a Volvo SUV from an Aliso Viejo garage last month–with a 2-year-old boy in his car seat and a Saint Bernard in a cage in the back. He is accused of running over the frantic mom of the boy, slamming into two garages, speeding through town, hopping out of the still-running car with the child and dog inside before it crashed, and leading a foot chase through residential backyards that resulted in his capture by Orange County sheriff's deputies.
Charged with one felony count each of
carjacking, kidnapping during the commission of a carjacking, child
abuse, child stealing, second degree vehicle burglary, first degree
robbery, aggravated assault, hit and run with injury, vandalism over
$400, two felony counts of first degree residential burglary, one
misdemeanor count of resisting an officer, and sentencing enhancements
for non-accomplice present during a residential burglary and a prior
prison conviction in Nevada for leaving the scene of an accident in
2007, Corr could spend the rest of his life in state prison if he is convicted.
Were that to happen, authorities should consider some kind of prisoner swap with Florida, where our Village Voice Media sister paper Broward-Palm Beach New Times ran the following mugshot of the perfect cellmate for Corr:
Alas, Abroiso was in a federal immigration hold following his August arrest. Which should serve as a warning to all you young thugs and undocumented types out there: if you want to avoid the ones you want fucked, let alone deportation, you might want to carve a less obvious message into yourselves.
