Jamaal Wilkes and Norm Nixon of “Showtime” Lakers Brighten Christmas for Homeless Kids

Showtime-era Lakers starts Jamaal Wilkes and Norm Nixon are scheduled to come to Buena Park tonight to help give Christmas gifts to homeless children.

But, given the state of the Los Angeles Lakers these days, perhaps convincing “Silk” and “Stormin' Norman” to suit up and rejoin their old team would be a more worthy use of their time. (And, speaking of Worthy, pull “Big Game James” out of the Time Warner Cable post-game chair to pitch in on court as well.)

Wilkes and Nixon are to attend a Christmas party hosted by Giving Children Hope (GCHope) from 6 to 8 tonight at the faith-based nonprofit's office, 8332 Commonwealth Ave., Buena Park.

Other retired NBA and NFL players scheduled to attend include: UCLA and NBA star (and Chickie Baby sidekick) Keith Erickson, Sam Williams, Ed Ratleff, Reggie Berry, Ron Brown and Bob Elliott, as well as Arnie Fielkow, CEO of the National Basketball Retired Players Association.

They will help distribute gifts to 300 homeless children who participate in GCHope's We've Got Your Back program, a weekend nutrition program that provides them food.
