Jacoby at Cafe Hidalgo, Our Drink of the Week!

I had been to Cafe Hidalgo in Fullerton twice in the last decade until this past weekend–for a gorgeous wedding, and for a dinner where my insults toward my ex's guy at the time made her fall in love with me all over again, which made me waste another year of my life with her. Um yeah…but anyhoo, a baby shower brought me to the DTF classic. The party was catered with an open bar–score! Alas, the regular drink menu is chockablock with margaritas and martinis, so leave it to my resourceful wife to discover an off-the-menu drink: the Jacoby, named after the suave bartender who regaled us with its ingredients.

It's served in a Stella Artois glass because its base is Stella Cidre, a newish product featuring the crisp, dry taste of a fabulous apple. Jacoby tarts it up with peach schnapps, pineapple juice, and rum. Oh, this is a total chick drink, but sometimes one has to embrace the feminine side of their liver to beat back the brutal heat, and that's exactly what we did. Hey, Cafe Hidalgo owner: let Jacoby take real command of the bar menu, so you can be more Anepalco's than Javier's, you know?
