Is Santa Ana Ready for Some Pro Football?

Are the San Francisco 49ers moving to Santa Ana?

An NFL Network reporter says the storied franchise is on the way.

Sort of.

As reported by Cam Inman, the San Jose Mercury News 49ers Hot Read blogger, the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora sent out this provocative tweet after running into Niners CEO Jed York at a team relocation
meeting this morning:

49ers very
excited about their Santa Anna project and eager to hear update of
league's stadium funding program today.

Santa Anans can forgive the misspelling. English is a second language there, after all. But what football fans in the county seat cannot forgive is having their hopes raised by misinformation. Leave it to the Santa Ana City Council for that shit.

Speaking of city councils, York was actually meeting with Santa Clara's, which Tuesday night blessed a new Niners stadium there with the approval of an $850 million loan. La Canfora brain-farted when he tweeted “Santa Anna” instead of “Santa Clara.” Stubby fingers, little smart phone keys . . . been there.

Actually, we should have known it wasn't our Santa Ana because Papi Pulido only allows $850 million loans to family members and business partners.

Alas, Santa Ana will just have to make due with only one professional football franchise, the Mater Dei Monarchs.
