Buena Park Police Department’s Traffic Unit holds a DUI/drivers license checkpoint from 7 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday.
The location is near the intersections of Beach Boulevard and Stanton Avenue.
The Irvine Police Department conducts a sobriety checkpoint that starts an hour later (8 p.m.) and ends an hour sooner (2 a.m.).
It’s in the area of MacArthur Boulevard and Douglas, according to the department.
Officers in both cities will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and check drivers for proper licensing.
Cops vow motorists will only be delayed momentarily.
Funding for the checkpoint comes to the cities from a California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
