Irrelevant Week Kick-Off Arrival Party

Suffering in the dark bowels of mediocrity isn’t without its rewards. In fact, some even celebrate the achievements of the inconsequential. This week, the not-so-sucky Cheta Ozougwu, defensive end from Rice University and the 2011 NFL draft’s last pick at No. 254, has been named Mr. Irrelevant by the annual festival that celebrates football’s final choice. Ozougwu will be toasted and roasted (and receive the exclusive “Lowsman Trophy”) in a celebration filled with music, food, gifts and too many ex-Trojans for comfort. Bonus: The highly relevant Newport Beach Fire Department will be there toasting wieners for the occasion. Hot dog, indeed!
