“I Am the Most Fabulous of All Halloween Pumpkins:” Boys and Ghouls, The Trumpkin!

If the presidential poll numbers hold, we'll be voting for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton in November 2016. Either is a scary proposition in many houses (and both are scary in some), but at least you will be able to register that fear at sculptor Doug Goodreau's “Potential Presidential Candidate Pumpkin Heads” display later this month in Costa Mesa.

Goodreau is once again lending his artistic talents to the Trick or Treat Festival at the Orange County Market Place, where crowds can vote for which is a scarier pumpkin head: the Trumpkin or the Clint-O-Lantern.

The 18th annual festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Orange County Fair N Event Center. Besides the Goodreau display, there will be free face painting, puppet making, magic shows, sing for sweets karaoke, sing-alongs with the Ukulady, games with prizes, strolling entertainment and daytime trick or treating for children ages 12 and under.

If the presidential pumpkins don't freak you out, perhaps the exhibition of snakes, reptiles, tarantulas and other creatures from the Southern California Herpetology Association and Rescue will do the trick. The fest also includes the 16th annual Halloween Hearse Show which in addition to its regular display of antique, classic and restored hearses, funeral cars and ambulances, includes a Bug and Monster Show for vintage VW Beetles and Bugs, Cobras, Spiders, Vipers and Barracudas from any year.

Admission is $2 or free for kids 12 and under. You'll find way more going on than shared in this post, so to find out more visit ocmarketplace.com or call 949.723.6660.

By the way, I'm putting my money on the Trumpkin, given the real-life subject's “yuge” advantage of already being orange.
