If only Surf City's backroom-deal infected City Hall adopted a Sunshine Guarantee for residents.

“Book a qualified RFP [request for proposal] by June 30, 2012, and hold the meeting by December 30, 2012, and receive our Sunshine Guarantee,” reads the city convention bureau offer. “This means that if there is more than a half inch of rain on multiple peak days of the program, an additional $1,000 credit will be applied to the planner's final bill.”
“We”re so lucky to have such beautiful weather year-round,” Christopher Anderson, director of sales, with the local bureau, tells Travel Mole's David Wilkening. “We think attendees
should experience the HB weather that we all brag about.”
Conventioneers should understand that, an in Las Vegas, the odds are stacked in favor of the House. Surf City logs 315 to 345 days of sunshine a year.
To sweeten the offer, the bureau also offers $200 to $500 toward airfare for convention reps making onsite inspections (depending on the number of rooms/nights being booked), complimentary guestroom Internet for the group and
discounts at select retailers, restaurants and attractions.
