Yes, that's right, Hello Kitty wine is coming to Newport Beach. It isn't enough that the
saccharine, silent cat stares vapidly from everything from pencils to
hairclips; now it has to have its own line of wine. There will be four
types available, all made from Pinot Noir grapes by a “great winery”
[their PR folks' words, not ours] in Italy: sweet pink and white brut
sparkling wines, “Hello Kitty Angel White” and “Hello Kitty Devil Red”.
The wines will be on offer at the Wine Lab in Newport Beach, ranging from $21 to $34 per 750 mL bottle (or a four-bottle deal for $109). There will
be a tasting event on Tuesday, June 8 from 6-9 p.m., with all four
poured for $19. Reservations can be made by e-mailing Wine Lab Newport. If
