That's just one of the disturbing facts presented in the documentary Playground, whose producers include George Clooney and Steven Soderberg.
The film gets a very special showing at UC Irvine tonight–along with a panel discussion featuring:
- Ally Jacobs, who broke open the Jaycee Dugard case and was later named People magazine's Person of the Year;
- Sandie
Morgan of the OC Human Trafficking Task Force; - San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy Colin Ingraham, who was recognized by the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children for his work against child slavery.
Playground in being presented by Orange County nonprofit The Innocence Mission, which is dedicated to eradicating child sexual abuse.
The doors of Doheny A at UCI open at 5:30 p.m., which the film starting a half hour later. Tickets are $10 for students, $20 for everyone else. You can purchase them in advance here.
