It was a stinky New Year's Day for residents of tony Huntington Harbour, which was partly closed due to an 800-gallon sewage spill.
County health officials believe the sewage flowed into the channel from a storm drain at Heil Avenue and Algonquin Street, without explaining what sewage was doing in a storm drain. After all, it's a storm drain and not a sewage drain, right? Hello? . . . Is this thing on?

Wherever the nasty stuff came from, it forced closures of the south and west portions of Huntington Harbour from Wayfare Lane to Warner Avenue and including the Humboldt and Davenport beaches.
Happy poo year?
