Gustavo's Latest “Orange County Line” for KCRW: On OC's Love Affair with Mello-Roos Taxes!

As everyone knows, I live in a P.O. Box in Anaheim. If I ever buy a shack, it'll probably be in some rundown barrio or other–can't exactly afford much making pesos, you know? But if I ever did buy a place, no way in hell would I ever go for a neighborhood with a Mello-Roos tax on it. Who the hell is dumb enough to want to pay extra taxes on top of property taxes just to live the excluded life?

Half of South County, that's who. And that was the subject of my latest “Orange County Line” for KCRW-FM 89.9.
]

The prompt for this was the news that residents of Rancho Mission Viejo's upcoming Sendero village will probably pay a Mello-Roos tax–yet that won't matter to the development's bottom line, as it'll sell out in a second. The funniest thing about this commentary that the usual hilarious haters are already accusing me of being anti-gabacho. Of course not: some of my best writers are gabachos! But I did make sure to specify to KCRW host Steve Chiotakis that the Mello-Roos tax is the latest salvo by OC's elites of all races to make sure they don't have to live next to the rabble in Lake Forest and north. Enjoy!
