Oy vey, the Orange County Animal Shelter. I remember one of the big cover stories for the Weekly before my time at this infernal rag involved the decrepit conditions at it. I remember writing stories about how the county had placed an admitted boy lover at the Shelter in the idea that he wouldn't be around children there, and how workers washed dog shit directly into the Santa Ana River (that story, according to my sources at the time, hit so close to home that they never talked to me again). And now, 11 years later, the problems continue, as the OC Grand Jury issued two scathing reports against OC Animal Care (the county agency in charge of the shelter) in the past two months.
