Beach. Bands. Booze. Bites. Babes. The five elements of the Weekly's annual Summer Fest never change. And who would want them to?! Particularly the babes part–the faithful readers who come out to help us celebrate our massive Summer Guide issue are always the sexiest people in our eyes. That's why we're calling on all of you to join us at Newport Dunes on June 20 from 12-5 p.m. for our all-day seaside party featuring amazing live bands paired with the best local food and drink we could find.
This year, headliners Through the Roots are coming up from San Diego, bringing with them the perfect mix of Jamaican riddims and infectious party anthems to cap off their latest national tour.

Making a name for themselves well outside California, Through the Roots (led by frontman Evan Hawkins) have traveled all over the country to spread their easy-listening music and positive messages. They have accompanied Rebelution and Iration on nationwide tours, performed in the prestigious Cali Roots Festival, and had their song “Take You There” debut at No. 3 on the iTunes reggae top 20 chart in 2013.
The stacked lineup of soulful reggae and ska-infused acts also includes local favorites True Press, The Originalites, Solution, and Undecided Future.
This year, we're adding a VIP section presented by Newport Beach clothing company Cutlass.The company started in early 2015 with a mission to celebrate their active, artistic and musical lifestyle, as well as paying homage to the local legends of Orange County. Their models and brand ambassadors are the musicians from local bands, surfers, artists, DJ's and other masters of their craft that are the local heroes.
Grab your VIP or Hungry VIP ticket to come party with them in the Cutlass VIP Cabana. The beachside lawn will be rocking all day with exclusive music performances headlined by Micah Brown, a beer garden with more than five beer samplers, lounge area, private bathrooms and five restaurants competing in the Taco Throwdown Challenge.
Aside from the $15 for general admission ($25 at the door), VIP tickets ($30 online, $40 at the door) will get you access to the Cutlass VIP Cabana, complete with extra samples from the beer garden pourers, exclusive music performances, lounge seating, private bathrooms and more.
