It's that festival time of year. And this weekend Garden Grove is hosting one of the big ones: The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival starts Friday at 1 p.m. and continues through the weekend. There will be a parade, strawberry-related food, carnival rides, entertainment, and appearances from celebrities like Aubrey Anderson-Emmons who plays Lily in Modern Family.
And if you want to get a piece of the giant strawberry shortcake–the centerpiece of the festival's opening ceremonies–it will be sliced up and given away (again, free) on May 23 at 6 p.m. in the Showmobile at Main and Acacia streets to all who come.

If you miss it, our Dave Lieberman recommends the strawberry shortcake from Job's Daughters, which he dubs “the only reason for people over the age of 25 to visit the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival: the most insane strawberry shortcake in the county.”
