The first of four DUI/drivers license checkpoints conducted by the Garden Grove Police Department is tonight at 13201 Magnolia St.
The
operation begins at 9 p.m. and continues until 3 a.m. Saturday.
The goal, says the department, is to reduce the number of people killed and injured in alcohol-involved crashes by removing offenders from the streets and educating everyone else about the dangers of impaired driving.

other upcoming checkpoints are:
- 9 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday at Garden Grove Boulevard and Yockey Street.
- 9 p.m. Dec. 10 to 3 a.m. Dec. 11
at 12761 Euclid St.
- 9 p.m. Dec. 10 to 3 a.m. Dec. 11
at 12555 Valley View St.
Traffic
volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and
drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be
arrested, warns GGPD, which encourages the public to call 9-1-1 if suspected impaired drivers are seen on the road.
Funding
for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office
of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
