Remember Todrick Dramaul Hall? If you don't, don't worry because we kinda forget his face too, but he was on American Idol back in 2010. But that's not why he's in the news this week.
Hall was the victim of a theft while performing at a retirement ceremony for Hazard Elementary School's principal. A 47-year-old Santa Ana woman was caught red handed stealing his iPhone 5 after he put it on a bench outside school while signing autographs and posing for photographs with students. Talk about a low blow. Twenty minutes after the photo session with the kids, Hall realized his phone got nicked but the idiot who stole his phone didn't realize that Apple has a “Find my iPhone” app and that's how he tracked down his phone.

Don't worry, the story gets better. Once they were able to flick on the app, police were able to track it to a grocery store at Harbor and Garden Grove boulevards in Garden Grove. The security officer at the supermarket recognized a student from the elementary school in the store with an iPhone (a little fishy, right?), so when Hall and the guard were talking to the boy they saw his mother, Bertha Alicia Avalos, take off towards the back of the store. When Hall and the security guard confronted Avalos about the phone she gave it back to Hall, along with four $100 bills that were in the phone's wallet. She was obviously arrested on charges of grand theft.
In 2013, it's impossible to imagine that any tech savvy person would think to steal an iPhone especially with that app on almost every phone. But hey, when you're dealing with a former American Idol contestant, expect the unexpected. In this case, don't be surprised to see the book thrown at her, especially if Simon Cowell is her judge, jury and executioner.
