Forget Carmageddon, Here Comes Cowboygeddon!

Unless you don't know how to read or just enjoy blatantly ignoring road signs, then you know that the 405 Freeway between the 10 and 101 will be closed this weekend for another round of Carmageddon in L.A. Though the closure is more than 50 miles away from Irvine, locals aren't exactly out of the woods either, so to speak.

On Saturday, Go Fest featuring country singers Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, amongst the most prominent, will be playing, and subsequently have sold-out, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. Not a big deal right? Au contraire. With many people staying as far away from the closure as possible, there will undoubtedly be traffic in Orange County, especially near the venue due to beach and other types of entertainment traffic. Add to the mix nearly 20,000 fans of country music flocking to the area, then you have the recipe to something far worse: Cowboygeddon.

Instead of closing the 405 and 5, expect there to be a ridiculous amount of traffic on both freeway, causing locals to wish that there were closures. Remember the couple who decided to have a quick meal on the 405 last time it was closed? Well this time in Orange County, you're more likely to see a chili cook-off and people shotgunning beers when they're stuck in the unbearable traffic.

Though the concert is slated to begin at 4 p.m., Cowboygeddon will likely cause major traffic problems. So, if you're planning on driving or attending the show, the moral of the story is get there early. If you don't or can't avoid the inevitable congestion near the venue, well, strap on your cowboy boots, slap on that denim outfit that's been collecting dust in your closet, pack a 12-pack of beer, bring your grill and get comfortable since the area will likely look the “Everybody Hurts” music video. Besides, who said beer and barbecue is a bad thing, right?
