Five Reasons Why Marlon Wayans Kicks Ass (and You Should See Him This Weekend)

To say that America has a love affair with the Wayans family would be accurate because like most people you see or meet, you equate it with your life. And for me personally, I have that feeling with Marlon Wayans. I was already all in the first time I interviewed Marlon along with his brother Shawn years ago. During that interview, I was raving about the movie “Don’t be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” as I generally do. Long story short, they agreed I seemed “more like a White Chicks fan” but still let me go on and on. And Marlon took a “Loc Dog” picture with me which I will love forever. So he wins.

The reason I’m spouting off all of this ass kissing drivel is because Marlon Wayans rules and also, he’s coming to the Irvine Improv this Friday through Sunday. In honor of his arrival, I want to sell you on seeing what I see in him. That way you’ll go. And we will all win. And that’s what it’s about, winning. Oh, and Marlon. Whatever, you get it. Here are my picks for the “Top 5 Reason’s Marlon Wayans Kicks Ass and You Should See Him This Weekend.”

5- He’s Fine AF
I don’t want to be superficial here BUT…I’m pretty sure even the seeing impaired would agree that Marlon is, as they say, blessed. He’s slender and chiseled and omg this is wrong on so many levels but one time he mooned the audience in Irvine and his butt was like a pocket sized slice of perfection. OK, this is getting awkward. Next.

4- He’s Humble AF
If you follow Marlon on any social media platform you’ll get a glimpse into his personal life through pictures, stories in posts, and through thoughtful quotes. With all of the success he has had in his life, he remains totally down to earth. And with all of the things he will no doubt accomplish in the future, there is no doubt in my mind that he will remain as modest as they come. In this industry, it’s a refreshing thing to see. Take note up-and-comers.

3- He’s in My Favorite Movie Ever and Forever
I fell in love with the movie Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking your Juice in the Hood back in 1996. Yes, I’m old. This exquisite flick parodied all of the “hood movies” of that time and because it’s so brilliantly written, even if you are familiar with said “hood movies,” it still may take a few viewings to get all of the references. For me personally, I caught all of the references a few times in and never looked back. Yes, on the outside I may look like “more of a White Chicks fan” but in real life, I’ve seen this movie around 1,000 times. No joke. I know almost every word, know the exact part music will kick in, when Keenen will scream “MESSSAAAGE,” and I still laugh every time Dashiki tells Ashtray, “Wrong hole fool.” Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking your Juice in the Hood (yes, I have to say the whole title) is my all-time favorite thing the Wayans have ever done and as we all know, there have been many. I will also hope and pray for a part two of this movie FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

2- He’s a Well Rounded MFer
I think we’ve already established how funny Marlon Wayans is through gems like (see above), Scary Movie, In Living Color, Little Man, White Chicks, and Fifty Shades of Black, but Marlon also crushed in a more serious role in Requiem for a Dream. And coming soon, Marlon will be taking his talents to NBC for the sitcom “Marlon” that is “loosely based off of his life.” They say no one can do it all but Marlon is on the path to making naysayers eat their stupid “no one can do it all” words.

1- He’s a Family Man
Marlon’s family is pretty tight knit so when it comes to his own two kids, he’s an extremely doting father. Sharing them with the world on social media is one thing but the truth of the matter is, he did an interview with me while his son was in the hospital. Not wanting to cancel on me but wanting to stay by his son’s side, he did the interview and when it was over, I couldn’t hear shit. Not even kidding. That’s actually why I’m doing this list. Because he came through for me and I’m bringing it back around. Go see Marlon in Irvine. He’s a funny ass talented mother fucker and an all-around good dude. Enough said.
