UPDATE, JUNE 17, 6:16 P.M.: Felipe Viera Lugo, 45, has been identified as the presumed homicide victim whose body was found in the middle of a quiet residential street late Tuesday night, according to Anaheim Police Lt. Eric Trapp, who indicated he expects no further updates tonight. Anyone who knew Lugo's whereabouts before 11 last night or has any information about the case is encouraged to call the Crime Stoppers hotline listed on the next page.
ORIGINAL POST, JUNE 17, 2:49 P.M.: The body discovery in the 1900 block of West Embassy Avenue was called in around 11 p.m., when responding officers thought the unidentified man may have been dragged by a vehicle, Anaheim Police Lt. Eric Trapp, the department spokesman, said during an early morning media briefing.
Undisclosed information has since led investigators to believe the man may have died via homicide, and they had a white Ford 150 truck with a dent in its side that's a "vehicle of interest" towed from where it was parked about three blocks away in the 200 block of South Agate Street, Trapp said. The spokesman added that as of this morning police did not know whether that truck killed the fellow.
In any event, it's an unusual case for homicide investigators because the neighborhood where the victim was found is "very quiet" according to Trapp, who added the incident "would be out of the ordinary to happen here."
His department is hoping a witness or someone with more information will help solve the mystery.
