Ex-LAPD Cop Alex Arredondo I.D.'d as Man Assaulted in Angel Stadium Parking Lot

UPDATE: The man now listed in serious condition following a beating in the Big A parking lot has been identified as Alex Arredondo, 43, of Huntington Beach. The father of three had been a police officer until leaving the Los Angeles Police Department in 2012. Investigators have no reason to believe at this point that Arredondo's past employment with the LAPD had anything to do with the beating, according to Lt. Bob Dunn, the Anaheim Police spokesman. The search continues for the three attackers, but Dunn says there is no security camera footage from Angel Stadium nor suspect descriptions from the handful of witnesses who saw the incident.

ORIGINAL POST, OCT. 5, 11:57 A.M.: As if the bad news couldn't be worse after your heavily favored Anaheim Angels of Anaheim's 4-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals Friday night comes this: after the game, three men beat up another man in his 40s after the game, leaving him unresponsive and currently in critical condition.

The beating only came to light late last night, and police have little info to go by at the moment other than the belief that alcohol was involved and that fan rivalry doesn't seem to be a factor, Anaheim Police Department spokesperson Bob Dunn told the Orange County Register

Here's KTLA-TV Channel 5's brief report:

We'll update the story as more info bubbles up. In the meanwhile, anyone with tips is urged to call the Anaheim PD.

Now is as best a time to remind folks that there has been more killings at Angel Stadium in the past 12 years (three) than at Dodgers Stadium (one), and the horrific Bryan Stow notwithstanding, more high-profile assaults have happened at the Halos' home in that time span that I can remember than at Dodgers Stadium. Interesting…
