Eric Burdon and Members of the Foo Fighters Tapped For Costa Mesa's 60th Anniversary Festival

What's the best way for a city to celebrate its 60th anniversary? No, counting down the years until getting a Social Security card doesn't count, but the boomer-aged Costa Mesa is going to do something age-appropriate: It's throwing a rock concert to honor the occasion.

Not only is the city putting on a show, but more important, it's doing it the right way. If you didn't have the chance to check out Eric Burdon & the Animals last week, you can during the city's festival, which takes place June 28-30 on Fair Drive between Fairview Avenue and Newport Boulevard. Other performers include Berlin (of Top Gun fame) and Chevy Metal, a '70s hard-rock cover band that features Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters.

The streets will be closed Thursday through Sunday for the festivities. Free parking will be available at the OC Fair and Event Center parking lot. The city will hold an informational meeting about the street closure at 6 p.m. on May 16 in the Council Chambers at City Hall (77 Fair Dr.).

Festival events will be free except for concerts on the main stage. One-day passes for the paid concerts are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event. Three-day passes will be available for $50 in advance. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketfly.com beginning May 6.
