Ed Royce, John Campbell End Summer Recess from Congress with Immigration-Reform Call

While you're starting early on a long holiday weekend, some Orange County progressive types are rallying outside an event this morning featuring Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton), then the office of Rep. John Campbell (R-Irvine) Saturday morning and then Royce's office that afternoon. Organizing for Action volunteers from Orange County (OFA OC) say they want end August by letting these congressmen known comprehensive immigration reform is right for America.

“Comprehensive immigration reform is important to the business community, to families as well as to the economy, and OFA OC volunteers remind local representatives how important an immigration bill is to their constituents,” reads a statement announcing the “grass-roots” activism.

They point to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office reporting that the Senate immigration bill would cut the deficit by $820 billion over 20 years and add 5.4 percent to GDP.

The Orange County group will press their message outside the Fullerton Marriott, 2701 E. Nutwood Ave., where Royce is scheduled to attend an “Insider's Breakfast” hosted by the Fullerton and Brea Chambers of Commerce from 8 to 9 this morning.

On Saturday, they intend to rally outside Campbell's office at the corner of Pacifica and Fortune near the Irvine Spectrum from 10-11 a.m.

Then it's back to make some noise for Royce again outside his office at 210 W. Birch St., Brea.

OFA OC wants the congressmen to take up immigration reform when they return to Washington after the summer recess. For more information, they suggest you visit barackobama.com.
