Dwayne Jordan Richardson, High School Girls Basketball Coach, Busted for Sexual Misconduct

A teenager has been arrested for doing what teenagers do: hook up with one another. The problem for Dwayne Jordan Richardson is that at 19 he's an adult, his alleged victims are two female high school students who are minors and as a high school basketball coach he's in a position of authority. On Wednesday, the Villa Park High School resource officer obtained information about alleged sexual misconduct by Richardson, a “walk-on” girls' basketball coach at the school but not a teacher there, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, the Orange County sheriff's spokesman.

After the sheriff's department was contacted by the school, the law enforcement agency's Special Victims Unit launched an investigation that determined Richardson engaged in sexual misconduct with a female minor student who attends Villa Park High and another student at El Dorado High School in Placentia, Hallock said.

One relationship extended back to June 2014, according to Hallock, who added that because the alleged crimes covered two campuses and Richardson's status as a walk-on coach, sheriff's investigators believe there may be additional victims.

Anyone with additional information or believes they were a victim is asked to call Orange County Sheriff's Department Special Victims Unit Sgt. Wade Walsvick at 714.647.7418 or 714.647.7000. Anonymous tips may be left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855.847.6227 (855-TIP-OCCS), via occrimestoppers.org or by texting to 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S) from a cell phone. (All text messages should begin with the letters “OCCS”.)

Richardson, who resides in Fullerton, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and sexual penetration and oral copulation with a minor. He was booked into Orange County Jail but posted bond on his $100,000 bail and has since been released. A court hearing is pending the filing of charges by the Orange County District Attorney's office, Hallock said.
