A 28-year-old Yorba Linda man is suspected of being the machete-wielding “ninja” robber of Placentia, according to police.
Around 7:50 p.m. July 29, a man toting a machete and wearing all black—leather jacket, shirt, jeans, gloves and ski mask (or balaclava)—robbed the Walgreens drug store at 1201 E. Yorba Linda Blvd. of about $200, according to Placentia Police Lt. Eric Point, who added the call came in to dispatchers that the bandit was wearing a “ninja” mask.
The investigation led officers to follow Douglas Sherman Unger II to the parking lot of a gas station in Anaheim Hills, where he was arrested on Friday, Point said.
Unger was being held in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, Point said.
