Ice Cube, Zapp, Lisa Lisa, Tha Dogg Pound and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony headline Saturday’s OC Block Party at the Santa Ana Civic Center. But if you scroll way down to near the bottom of the bill, you will find Doughboy Tony.
The placement is understandable when you consider the Q value of the headliners compared to a young Santa Ana man.
“My son just started making music last year in July,” Milton C. Ortiz says of Doughboy Tony.
Keep in mind that among Doughboy Tony’s first shows was one a few months ago at Original Mike’s in Santa Ana with WC, East Sidaz and South Central Cartel and then a couple weeks ago (and a block away) at La Santa opening for DJ Quick.
It’s no wonder that, on his socials, the local rapper reacted the way he did to first seeing his name on the OC Block Party poster alongside “all those great artists.”
“I am still trying to process it.”
You might say he’ll be living it up!
