“Don't Ask, Don't Tell” Overturned in Senate

Godspeed, Lt. Choi.

This morning will be known as the day the DREAM Act died in the U.S. Senate but “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” was overturned there.

By a bipartisan vote of 63 to 33, the Senate voted to end the debate on a bill that will allow President Barack Obama to overturn the Pentagon's ban on gay men and lesbians serving openly in the military.

Some equated the historic vote to the decision to end racial segregation in the military.
