No matter who you’re voting for today, fans of good tunes and great food will have a reason to celebrate after the polls close when Dinner With Dave makes a one-night-only return. For years, the longtime, OC chef, bartender and culinary cowboy graced our taste buds every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at his free dinner party that always included laughter and live music on the side at Memphis Santora in downtown Santa Ana.
We definitely shed a few tears into our beers when DWD came to a halt in 2014. But that didn’t stop the Mau Man from continuing to write for us as a regular columnist, nor did it slow down his cooking. Today the professional caterer is still turning and burning, working overtime at Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs. Fortunately, Mau is still an OC boy at heart, which is why he’s chosen to revamp Dinner With Dave at OC’s newly revamped bar, Marty’s on Newport.
