A 49-year-old man who was picked up for alleged domestic violence Friday morning was later found hanging in a La Habra city jail cell. Daniel Oppenheimer was pronounced dead at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton.

As is routine, the Orange County district attorney's office is now investigating the in-custody death.
A female called La Habra Police around 9:45 a.m. Friday about a domestic dispute, according to the department. Oppenheimer was arrested by responding officers who took him to the police station. He was later found alone, unconscious and hanging in a jail cell.
Officers and, later, paramedics tried to revive Oppenheimer before taking him to the hospital, said police, who added an autopsy is pending.
