Cypress Stop Gets in on OC DUI Action Tonight

The Cypress Police Department conducts a DUI and driver's license checkpoint from 8 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

Perhaps feeling a bit saucy, the cop shop isn't disclosing the location of that checkpoint, which could feature sights like this on the right if boozy drivers are ordered out of their cars.

Four people were ordered out of their cars–and arrested–after a recent Cypress checkpoint that ushered 900 vehicles through. No peeing-on-pavement reports were shared, however.

All vehicles will be checked Saturday night and early Sunday in Cypress–traffic and weather permitting.

That checkpoint joins other countywide DUI enforcement actions previously announced by the “Avoid the 38” campaign.

From 7 tonight to 3 a.m. Saturday, a DUI/DL checkpoint will be up somewhere in Laguna Niguel.

During those same hours, DUI saturation patrols are scheduled in rummy hot spots in La Habra.

The campaign has scheduled “DUI Taskforce Operations” from 2-3 a.m. Saturday in Buena Park, La Habra and Placentia, and saturation patrols during the same hours in Anaheim.

Finally, La Habra holds a DUI/DL Checkpoint from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

These operations are funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Long Beach Press-Telegram has details on an East Long Beach DUI checkpoint Saturday.
