Craftsman Wood Fired Pizza To Open in Placentia

A reader from Placentia wrote to us asking if we knew anything about a pizza joint called Craftsman Wood Fired Pizza that's about to open there. What we know we've gleaned from the cookie crumbs strewn all over the Internets. For instance, we know from a city chat room the restaurant is taking over part of the space (at 148 E. Yorba Linda Blvd.) that was originally supposed to go to Fresh N Easy before its parent company pulled the plug.

And we know from a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control filing that they've applied for and received a license to serve beer and wine. From a recently opened Facebook account, we learn that the restaurant also opened an Instagram account in which there are pictures of its progress (they're still working on it).

But the biggest cookie crumb of all is found atop the Instragram page: their website address (http://www.craftsmanpizza.com/), which not only has a countdown clock to when the restaurant will open (November 25, 2013) but also a full menu. This last piece of the puzzle lays it all out and shows what they'll be serving, including a tri tip pizza with potato and smoked gouda, as well as a shrimp and spinach pizza. Also, there will be sandwiches, like a swordfish club and a score of microbrews on tap.

The only thing we don't know is what this dessert they're calling a “Sizzlin' Apple Pie” is all about. But there maybe only one way to find out: wait till it opens, and then eat it.
