Counterfeiters, Short Film by Laguna Niguel's Bryce Hirschberg, Makes TV Debut Tonight


Counterfeiters, an innovative short film by Laguna Niguel's Bryce Hirschberg that was filmed in one continuous shot, makes its television debut tonight.

Fine Cut: KCET's
Annual Festival of Student Films
, a five-week series that showcases documentaries, comedic, dramatic and animated shorts by
student filmmakers, presents Counterfeiters at 9 p.m. Suzanna Guzmán hosts the program on channel 28.

Hirschberg, who hails from Aliso Viejo High School, made Counterfeiters through the film and television department at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), which is where he graduated from in 2012. The film follows a group of college dropouts who come up with a
simple way of counterfeiting money. When they get too greedy, things go awry. Here's the trailer:

Counterfeiters received the Best Picture Award in the LMU School of
Film and Television's 2012 Film Outside the Frame Festival, as well as
Best Experimental Film at the California Film Awards. Hirschberg had worn out carpets leading to award podiums by then. His 2011 short film Baer received the Best
Period Piece award at the 2011 AOF International Film Festival, the Best Student
Film award at International Vegas Cine Fest, an honorable mention at
the Los Angeles Movie Awards and the Special Jury Prize at the California Film Awards.
