The Costa Mesa Police Department says its running a sobriety checkpoint but–surprise, surprise–as is norm for that particular cop shop, they aren't saying where it will be.
So maybe drive around until you find it?

Oh, and CMPD does give this hint to its location:
“Checkpoints are typically placed at locations that provide the greatest opportunity for deterring impaired driving and providing the greatest safety for the pubiic and officers.”
Translation: stay away from the Harp Inn tonight. Just kidding. That watering hole is filled with responsible employees who live to make sure its patrons return time and again without being dead, injured or indebted by boozy driving, so that those folks can go on to live productive lives of spiritual fulfillment.
Or is that filled with spirits? Whatever. Here's more from CMPD: “Over the course of the past three years in Costa Mesa, 554 DUI collisions have claimed one life and iniured 245 of our friends and neighbors,” said Traffic Sergeant Greg Scott. Sergeant Scott added, “We arrested over 2,800 DUI's during those three years.”
At an average cost to arrestees of $10,000 a pop, that's uh, carry the 3, well . . . no one told us there would be math in this post. There is the disclosure that funding for the checkpoint comes via a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
