Coopy Boyer Accused of Posing as Model Photographer to Snare Teen Girls

I'd heard that a photographer had been arrested for sending sexy texts to two teen girls he'd met on the street and asked to model for him, but I resisted writing about it.

Then I saw his smirky police mugshot at right, and I resisted writing about it.

But, goddamn, when I learned his name is Coopy Boyer . . .

All I can say to that is hang on Coopy, Coopy hang on, because there's no resisting your sad tale now.

The 42-year-old San Jose man approached the teenagers Saturday in the area of Warner Avenue and Goldenwest Street in Huntington Beach, claimed to be a shooter for a photography studio and said he wanted to snap photos of them because, he said, they were model-quality, according to Fullerton Police.

Apparently flattered, the girls gave Boyer their phone numbers, and over the next several days he allegedly sent dozens of increasingly creepy text messages, at one point suggesting he bring alcohol to a shoot where they could get in and out of different outfits, police said.

When the girls suggested their parents be present, Boyer told them that would not be necessary–and neither would the standard waiver forms parents of minors fill out, claim police, who add the snapper offered to come to the girls' homes and pick them up.

The girls instead picked up a phone and called the cops. A Nov. 24 meeting was set up where the girls would pose as, ahem, jail bait. Coopy bit, according to police, who say he tried to flee in his car and toss his cell phone out a window before cops boxed him in.

Now authorities fear the photo act may have been pulled on other kids. Anyone who remembers being approached by the man in the photo–who apparently does not identify himself to them as Coopy Boyer–is asked to call Fullerton Police Det. Ron Bair at 714.738.6762.
