The 44-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested Tuesday for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl two years ago, when she was 7, at his apartment complex in the 2200
block of South Center Street in Santa Ana. Martinez is married with children and has been living there since before the victim was born.
The girl apparently told a friend, and word spread to her parents and eventually school police, that between September and October of 2008, Martinez assaulted her. When cops questioned him about it, he made “incriminating statements,” according to Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, the agency's spokesman.
Martinez is being held without bail on felony charges of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child
younger than 10 years old, oral copulation or sex with penetration
with a child younger than 10, and lewd or lascivious acts with a minor.
