A Calvary Chapel church pastor and youth soccer coach has been arrested for allegedly picking up an 8-year-old girl for a play date with one of his five daughters but instead driving her to a Huntington Beach park, molesting her and giving her $40 not to say anything.
Christopher Raymond Olague, 39, of Westminster, was booked into the Huntington Beach city jail on suspicion of committing a lewd act on a child less than 14
years of age and preventing/dissuading a witness.
The pastor of Refuge Southland Calvary Chapel in Buena Park was released after posting $100,000 bail. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 28, according to Surf City police.
After the girl told her mother what happened on her “play date,” the department was notified around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Officers were told the molestation happened in Olague's vehicle and that he paid the girl the money to try to convince her not
to tell her parents.
About 4:30 that same afternoon, Huntington Beach plain clothes detectives, with the assistance
of Garden Grove police officers, found, stopped and arrested Olague. A search warrant was later served at his home, and Orange County Child Protective Services was contacted to ensure the safety of the children inside the house.
According to the Refuge Southland Calvary Chapel website:
Pastor Chris and Diana, both grew up and first met in the city of Buena
Park and both are excited to see what God is doing in their hometown.
They have been married for the past 15yrs and have five daughters. [Writer's note: I deleted their names.] Prior to starting
Southland, Chris and Diana had been on staff at Refuge Calvary Chapel
Huntington Beach and serving in ministry together for 10 years.
Because of his church work and youth soccer volunteering, the Huntington Beach Police Department
fears there may be other victims. Anyone with information about inappropriate behavior toward children involving Olague is asked to call
either Detective Kevin Johnson at 714.960.8834 or Detective Mike Szyperski at 714.536.5988.
