ORIGINAL POST, MAY 29, 10:43 A.M.: What was originally believed to be a fatal hit-and-run in the city of Orange is now being investigated as a homicide as police suspect the driver of a pickup truck knew at least one of the occupants of the SUV he allegedly rammed into intentionally.

Around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, a dark blue 1999 GMC Sierra slammed into a Ford Explorer on Tustin Street between Van Owen and Chestnut avenues before the pickup left the scene, according to Orange Police.

The force of the collision ejected and killed the Explorer's driver, who has only been identified as a man from Corona in his 20s, and hospitalized an 18-year-old woman passenger who is expected to survive her injuries, police say.

Homicide detectives believe 43-year-old Christian Thomas McQueen, who had been living in South County, was the driver of the GMC truck and that he may have had a yet-known beef with one of the Explorer occupants.

Cops say “investigative tools” uncovered images of McQueen's vehicle that have been released to the media. It's described as a dark blue 1999 GMC Sierra with California license plate number 8H65628.

McQueen could have fled to the Stockton area, where he has family, according to police, who ask anyone with information to call 714.744.7444.

UPDATE, MAY 30, 12:03 P.M.: Christian Thomas McQueen turned himself in at the Orange police station around 9:40 last night, according to Lt. Fred Lopez, the department spokesman.

He was not booked into county jail on murder but vehicular manslaughter, Lopez told City News Service, adding that the suspect's GMC truck was impounded as well.
