You never want anyone to get hurt out there, but the chain of events that led a cement truck to become embedded into a Garden Grove residential garage would have been as fascinating to watch as that old Mouse Trap game they used to hawk on the teevee. The marble dropped around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday when the truck, heading north on Brookhurst Street as it approached Brookside Avenue, rear ended a compact car driven by an elderly woman in the same lane.

The lady's car veered to the right and came to a stop, but the cement truck jumped a curb, sheAred off a fire hydrant and crashed through a 10-foot cement wall and parked truck in a residential driveway in the 10000 block of Brookside before finally becoming lodged six feet into an unoccupied garage at the same address, according to Garden Grove Police Sgt. Jim Colegrove.
The driver of the compact car was not injured, but the guy in the cement truck was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was expected to be treated and released with minor injuries.
Speeding may have contributed to the accident but alcohol apparently did not, according to a police statement. City public works officials were sent out to the residence to survey some of the major damage you can see here:
