Joseph Cashore is a modern day puppet master—ever since childhood, he's had a powerful fascination with marionettes. Today, he's held accountable for single-handedly redefining the art of puppetry with his small army of handmade dolls. Each one is crafted with such exceptionally fine detail that their tiny, wrinkled faces seem to emote a range of expressions, and their movements executed with such minute exaction that they almost come to life on their own…wait a minute, we've seen this movie. This week, the Cashore Marionettes come to town with two shows. Saturday's is a fun set of stories about the simple pleasures in life and is suited for ages eight and up. Friday's Life in Motion performance, however, is recommended for mature audiences. Perhaps it's because of the adult subject matter dealing with hopelessness and death. Maybe it's the creepy hobo puppet. Or the skulls. Either way, Cashore Marionettes is a show you won't soon forget…especially when you turn out the lights.
